First Visit to the Hospital

Little Miss Mia has made her first visit to the hospital (which caused her to miss her first Thanksgiving at Grandma Debbies). On Wednesday night we noticed she was having a hard time breathing and decided to take her to the ER at U of M. It was a good thing we did as she was in fact having some issues. We ended up figuring out she has RSV. A very common cold virus. In young babies it is harder for them to fight it and put up with the symptoms than in older children or adults. Although what she has is nothing serious we had to be admitted so she could be observed and put on oxygen.

So this is the bummer of having a baby in the winter. She had to go to the ped office a few times her first week home and they suspect she caught it there from a sick kid. UGH - it is harder on us than her. It is a bummer to see her have to go through her first cold so young. It is obviously no fun to be in the hospital but it is safer for her to be here than at home.

So keep us in your prayers. We can't wait to take her home, once she kicks her cold. We will post more pics once we are home. Love and hugs to all!

Tis the Season

Tis the season for colds and our poor little Mia caught one. So we are busy nursing her back to health. Thank goodness Roy is still home with me. We will post again soon. Lots of cute pictures to share :)

Sleeping Beauty

When Mia and I made our way downstairs this AM I put her in the pack-n-play so I could take care of a couple of things. I noticed her outfit matched the brown pack-n-play sheet really well. I thought these pictures were too sweet not to share :)

Lucy loves Mia

We knew the dogs would love Mia. They have always loved sniffing and greeting all of our friend's kids. It has been a bit of an adjustment for them to share the attention but they just love her. Lucy is like a Mother Hen with her. She walks around looking to see where Mia is every time she walks into the room. I think it was love at first sight for Lucy :)

Visitors

We have had lots of friends and family come to visit us. Of course everyone was kind enough to bring food for us and gifts for Mia. We are so blessed to have so many wonderful people in our life!

Time to go home

Mia's Second Day

Welcome Mia Ann Crowdis

Mia Ann Crowdis was born on 11/13/2008 at 6:03pm. She weighed 6 pounds 4 ounces and is 19 1/4 inches long.

Roy & I went to the doctor on Wednesday for a weekly checkup. My DR decided to check me. I was dilated to 1, 50% effaced, and her head was down. She told me I would most likely not make it until December 14 so just keep an eye out for different labor signs.

On Wednesday night I got up for a potty break around midnight. I came back to bed and Roy had just come up. Without giving too many gory details we will just say my water broke ;) We called the DR and she said to take some time to pack our bags (another thing on the to do list that did not get done) and then get to the hospital. We got there around 2:15am. My contractions got pretty intense around 2pm or so. I started pushing around 4:45pm and she was born at 6:03pm. It was the hardest thing I have ever done but totally worth it. I could not have done it without Roy, he was a great coach, nurse, and so much more!
